Colors And Figures By Mieke Van Cauter - contemporary paintress
Mieke Van Cauter is a mixed media artist who works with various materials and textures. Her work exists at the intersection of abstraction and figuration. Sometimes, she acts as a storyteller, drawing inspiration from personal experiences and societal themes. At other times, she lets color and form speak freely in abstract compositions. She employs acrylics, charcoal, and oil pastels to bring her vision to life.
She has trained with renowned artists and institutions such as the Kara Bullock Art School, Olga Furman Art School, Patti Mollica, Julie Schumer, and Robert Kelley.
A medical procedure in 2016 unexpectedly changed the course of her life. Suddenly, she could no longer use her right hand and arm. With determination and an intensive rehabilitation process, she found her way back to art. Painting became not just a creative outlet but also a source of healing and strength.
Her work is characterized by a strong command of color and texture, as art critic Ohana Nkulufa describes:
"The strength of this portfolio lies in its versatility, emotional depth, and mastery of texture and color. The artist seamlessly transitions between abstract figures, detailed portraits, and geometric abstraction, maintaining a consistent underlying mood and technical proficiency."
Mieke’s art touches, inspires, and invites introspection. She believes in the healing power of creativity and hopes to show others that art can be a source of strength and transformation.
Séverine Crancée Hattu (Art Advisor at Galeries Bartoux - Paris)
"Color is a fundamental aspect of Mieke's artworks. With predominantly bright and vivid tones, they immediately capture attention, emphasizing the meaning of the composition. Her exploration of color and form is deeply compelling. Mieke uses mixed media in some pieces to create texture, enhance color interpretation, and add depth through contrast. Larger-scale works could further immerse the viewer in her artistic universe. Mieke masters multiple techniques, making her art highly versatile."
