L'unico occhio che mostra la donna in primo piano, emblema della Regina di fiori, una delle carte da gioco francesi, con l'unico occhio visibile nel volto che emerge verso l'alto a destra del dipinto, scrutano, si interrogano o si dirigono idealmente verso un "altrove". Nell'opera d'arte, in stile surrealista, le due figure vengono separate ed allo stesso tempo unite idealmente da uno scorcio di uno dei prestigiosi simboli di Firenze, la Basilica di Santa Croce, una delle più grandi chiese francescane e una delle massime realizzazioni del gotico in Italia.
