La figura femminile che impersonifica la Dea si trova nel quadro in posizione di riposo e contemplazione, osservando tutto quello che ha creato con una particolare calma e fermezza. Come viene raffigurato sullo sfondo il passaggio dal giorno alla notte, così in lei vediamo, partendo dal basso, la prevalenza del colore verde (simbolo della terra e della natura) che gradualmente si mescola sull’abito con gli altri colori fino a diventare trasparente, indicando il passaggio dalle cose terrene a quelle spirituali.
