Description

"You Are a Miracle" is a moving sculpture depicting the back of a survivor on a wooden wall. It tells the story of years of sexual abuse in her youth and the silence that buried her words and cries for help. Two black horns on her shoulder symbolize the tormenting "devil" of her past and allude to desperate suicide attempts. The head's position, turned away from the devil, and the handprint on her back represent her metamorphosis into a conscious, strong survivor. The golden inscription "You Are a Miracle" is a message, a symbol of healing, and a call to action for all who have experienced similar violence.
