I remember my childhood, when there were small "gangs" of kids who faced each other to prove they were the strongest. This "symbol" was used to slander the kids of a nearby town, Maglie. It would have a double meaning, a rabbit - synonymous with fearful, pusillanimous, lack of courage, fear of everything, especially bullies, or a penis.
