In a church above a small square
A little higher than Piazza Montanara
On the road that leads to the Salara,
There is in the entrance a blessed thing.

Throughout Rome, how wide and narrow it is
You will not find anything rarer.
It is a stone face that teaches you
Whoever told a lie, whoever told it.

If I now look at this face, with its mouth wide open,
I put my hand there, and do not squeeze it,
The truth is certain to me.

But if someone sticks their hand in the hole,
It's certain that there will be no spiggne
That hand that never goes away again.
