In the painting of Alessandro Tognin "Merlin and Nimue",  there is a summary of the story of Merlin, the magician and Nimue, his apprentice.

Merlin said he believed that nobody could be strong enough to resist Nimue.

She is a woman and women always achieve what they want.

In fact, if to get it they have to destroy the world and all that it contains, they do it.

Merlino loved Nimue so much and even managed not to be jealous of her.

Jealousy is in a certain way legitimate and rational, since it only wants to preserve a treasure that concerns us, or that we think it is up to.

Always lined up to see the good hidden among the evils, Merlino, however, did not lend an ear to the Anacletus Owl who instead knew well how to see beyond the lies she told him.

And in the end Nimue betrays him.

His love and Merlin are imprisoned in a crystal prison in the forest.
