Christophe De Callatay - contemporary painter

Christophe de Callatay is a painter whose philosophical compositions invite deep reflection on the great existential questions—from the creation of the world to the rise of artificial intelligence and humanity’s self-inflicted destruction of the planet. Each of his works, through its title and subtitle, forms part of a broader narrative—an intricate mosaic that explores the human condition: the quest for divinity, the allure of fleeting glory, chaos, the law of the jungle, civilization, democracy, life as an unending struggle, and, ultimately, the moral imperative to remain joyful in the face of mortality.

A self-taught artist with a vivid and expressive palette, Christophe began painting in gouache at an early age. At just thirteen, he won first prize in a painting competition organized by the ADAC (Association of Arts and Culture) and the Brussels Museum of Fine Arts (BOZAR).

Alongside his artistic pursuits, Christophe holds degrees in philosophy, law, journalism, and international relations. He has built an international career in association management and public affairs, and since 2016 has served as CEO of the American European Community Association (AECA) in Brussels.

Pursuing his lifelong passion for painting, he now works primarily in oils, refining his craft and deepening his thematic vision. In 2025, he presented his first solo exhibition, A Story of Mankind, at the Michel Ange Fine Arts Gallery in Brussels—a showcase of his philosophical explorations through art. He is also featured in 100 Artists of Europe, a prestigious volume celebrating contemporary European creativity.
