To paint is to let one’s soul speak.

I am Philippe Thuriet, self-taught painter and sculptor, born June 30, 1969 in Dijon, France.

I started drawing very young at the age of five like one learn to write at school. I obtained a diploma in France of Cabinetmaking of Art and Marquetry where I trained in woodcarving. I taught myself how to sculpt iron and clay modeling.

I have always cultivated Art in my surreal soul so I wanted to explore other materials…

At the end of the 1980s, I headed towards oil painting that I first attacked with the knife technique in the mind of a sculptor. Then I started using paintbrushes to refine my work.

Regularly I use these two techniques for my stretched canvases. Depending on my desires, I also like to take my pencils, charcoal, sanguine chalk… to create on paper like in my youth.

My creations develop in phases and states, between my conscious and my unconscious. Consciously, I begin to draw my creatures with a pencil on the canvas until I grab my paintbrushes. There, the magic happens… I am the matter, the tubes of paint my body envelope.

I become the paintbrush of my soul.
