TITLE OF THE WORK: ODALISQUE..partial freedom

In this work, titled "Odalisque (Partial Freedom)," I wanted to portray not just the figure of a woman, but a moment of inner awakening. This 30x90 cm canvas, created with a mixed media of oil and acrylic, captures an odalisque at the exact moment she decides to let go of the golden chains of her past to seek her own freedom, albeit partial.

Her arms open to the sky, to a horizon tinged with blue and purple that merges with the sea, testifying to an opening toward a new world. But the central element is the large golden yellow veil that envelops her. I painted it so that it stands out against the sky, as if blown by a sudden wind, symbolizing the effervescence of change. Below, her skirt, an alternating gold and deep purple, almost seems to float on the thin line between land and water, highlighting the connection between her past stability and her desire to float toward uncertainty. 

​This work speaks of self-determination and courage. It isn't complete freedom, as the title suggests, because the roots never completely break, but it is a powerful step toward it. With vibrant brushstrokes and a tactile texture created by the oil, I tried to convey the energy and vitality of this moment of transformation. I hope that those who view it can feel the wind of freedom moving the veil.
