With "Sleeper," I wanted to explore the suspended dimension of rest, abandon, and intimacy. In this strongly horizontal canvas (30x90 cm), the reclining figure is entirely covered by a light veil, an ethereal presence that caresses the body and allows glimpses of the forms beneath, amplifying its sense of mystery and delicacy.

For the work, I chose to combine acrylic and oil, a synergy that allowed me to convey both the materiality of the background and the impalpable transparency of the fabric. The figure emerges and contrasts against a vibrant background, dominated by warm brushstrokes of intense reds and golds that evoke the warm light of a fire or an interior sunset. I didn't seek to define anatomical or facial detail, preferring to let the expressiveness emerge through the subtle interplay between the veil and the silhouette, and through the powerful emotional charge of the chromatic contrast. It's an invitation to pause, to look beyond the surface, and to connect with the most intimate and silent part of ourselves.
