Description

With 'First Encounter,' I wanted to capture not just a landscape, but an emotion frozen in time. This work, created using mixed media on canvas, represents my visual interpretation of a precious memory shared by a client: the magical moment of her engagement to her current husband.

​The challenge was to combine the softness and depth of oil paints for the sky and sea at sunset with the freshness and material definition of acrylics for the foregrounds and architectural elements. At the center of the scene, two glasses of red wine, carefully painted to evoke their transparency and the reflection of the twilight light, stand as silent witnesses to a promise exchanged on this terrace overlooking infinity.

​The white walls and Mediterranean plants frame the view, which fades into the pastel tones of the golden hour, evoking a sense of peace, intimacy, and a timeless beginning. The choice of contrasting warm and cool colors aims to convey the vibrant yet serene atmosphere of That unforgettable evening.

​The work was commissioned and is currently part of a private collection, but for me it remains an example of how art can serve as a guardian of our most beautiful memories.
