Yin and Yang
Description
The painting represents yin and yang, two fundamental concepts of Taoism, an ancient Chinese philosophy. Yin means "shadowy side" and yang means "sunny side." They are two halves that, when united, create the whole and harmony of the universe. They are two opposite poles, like black and white, day and night, hot and cold, and so on. This duality is present, for example, between men and women, but also in each of us. To achieve harmony within ourselves, a balance between the opposing sides of our character is necessary.
