Title: Istanbul Seen Through a Grate

​"There is a precise moment, at sunset, when Istanbul ceases to be just a city and becomes a liquid emotion.

​In this small work of mine, I wanted to enclose the immensity of the Bosphorus and the iconic silhouette of the Galata Tower within a diameter of just 9 centimeters. The idea stems from the desire to simulate a stolen glimpse: that of observing the world through a grate, where the narrow space does not limit the view, but rather enhances its preciousness.

​To bring this miniature to life, I chose a mixed media:

​Oil, for the softness of the sky and the deep reflections of the water.

​Acrylic, to define the material contrasts of the grate and the architectural details.

​The wooden support gives the piece a warm physicality, making this small tondo a sort of metropolitan amulet. It is an invitation to rediscover the beauty in the details, to look 'beyond' even when we are We feel confined.
